Little Brak River
General Information on Little Brak River (Klein Brak Rivier)
Little Brak River, also known as Klein Brakrivier, is a small seaside village situated on the banks of the river. The village is a natural bird sanctuary. Little Brak is a paradise of sea, lagoon and river, set in between Mossel Bay and Great Brak River.
This part of the coast is renowned for having the mildest climate throughout the year. Little Brak River has struck a fine balance between bustling seaside activities and peaceful quiet of just relaxing next to the lagoon ... this makes Little Brak such a wonderful place to stay.
The Little Brak lagoon is within walking distance from most accommodation and is ideal for some canoeing. During the whale migration season - (June to November), visitors can enjoy some whale watching.
Little Brak is great for fishing and you can expect to catch some elf, kob, or leervis. Or take a trip up-river, and catch some fresh water fish. The river is navigable for about twenty kilometres and teeming with fish, which means there is excellent boating, fishing and canoeing to be done.
Being situated within a natural bird sanctuary, bird watching in this area is spectacular. Birdlife is rich and varied, providing avid bird watchers hours of pleasure. There are also a number of Game Lodges and reserves in the area for prime game viewing. At the Little Brak Game Park just outside the village, visitors can view the Big five and go for elephant rides. Visitors can also enjoy a Game drive on quad bikes.
Accommodation in Little Brak includes: Bed & Breakfasts, Guest Houses, Guest Lodges, Private Game Reserves, Self Catering Cottage/ House/ Bungalow, caravan parks, and hotels. Little Brak is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Garden Route and the Little Karoo.
