Buffalo Bay

General Information

Buffelsbaai or Buffalo Bay is situated 15km from Knysna in the Western Cape province of South Africa.   Located in the Goukamma Marine Reserve, on the N2 between George and Knysna, Buffalo Bay is perfectly positioned in the heart of the Garden Route. 

Activities and Businesses

Buffalo Bay is almost completely surrounded by the ocean which makes for perfect fishing, whether from rocky outcrops, from golden sands and surf, or right from your doorstep! Caravaners and campers cannot be any closer to the sea if they tried!   Wake up every morning to a spectacular sunrise and watch the dolphins playing in the surf.

The long stretch of beach is popular with both swimmers and surfers, while on its eastern side it shelters a bay and slipway used by powerboat fishermen.  The rocks west of Buffalo Bay provide excellent opportunity for anglers. 

Buffalo Bay offers various accommodation options ranging from B&B's, self catering, guest houses and camping.
