Welcome to Elianthe Boutique Guesthouse (Battenburg House Anno 1850), in the heart of Swellendam, third oldest town of South Africa. Situated close to many restaurants and attractions, here guests can experience our beautiful town with it’s historic buildings, blue mountains and old oak trees.

This 180 year old Victorian house has been renovated, but has kept much of it’s former historic character. Surviving the horrific fire of 1865, this is truly one of the few national monuments of our town. The late Sir Henry Battenburg arrived in the Cape in 1850 and lived with his wife in the house on the main road. Locals rumoured that he was a prince. His signage can still be seen on one of the windows. Now the doors of this house is open for guests to enjoy a pleasant bed and breakfast experience.

We offer 10 standard/luxury rooms with all the grandeur efficiency a traveller needs. We have family rooms with an extra bed/sleeper couch.
