Welcome to Fynbosvlei Log Cabins near Sedgefield, on the Garden Route. Situated on a tranquil 40 hectare private estate, this is a true piece of paradise, found on the north bank of the Swartvlei Lake. It boasts half a kilometer of water frontage with unsurpassed views from both cabins. Expect a most relaxing stay in nature, away from the hustle and bustle - yet close enough to all the attractions that the Garden Route has to offer...

Fynbosvlei is ideal for a romantic retreat or honeymooners, fishermen, water sports enthusiasts, bird watchers, botanists, hikers and in general, families and groups of friends, also special occasions!

We offer birding, water activities, mountain biking, running, fishing and multiple pathways in and amongst nature's plethora of fynbos vegetation and bird life!

Situated 20km from Sedgefield by road (but less than 5km if you are a Fish Eagle and can fly across the lake!), 40km from Knysna, 45km from George, and 60km from George Airport. 

We are pet friendly with a caveat - please be aware that there is a variety of local wildlife around including monkeys and, occasionally, baboons.  So please keep an eye on your pets.

Fynbosvlei Log Cabins Accommodation

We offer two log cabins and a lovely house overlooking the lake, all individually decorated and fully equipped for self-catering. 

Small Log Cabin 

The Small Log Cabin is a romantic hideaway for two and features one bedroom, one bathroom, a living area and a cosy kitchenette. An extra two children under 12 can be accommodated.

Big Log Cabin

The Big Log Cabin has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The cabin is equipped with a kitchen with a pantry, a lounge and a dining room. 

The Hideaway

The Hideaway is tucked away closer to the water. It features three bedrooms sleeping 6 guests, a bathroom with a shower, a separate toilet, and an open plan lounge, dining room and kitchen.

Activities at Fynbosvlei Log Cabins

- Walking – A number of paths have been created circumnavigating the farm. These offer you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the species-rich fynbos vegetation and indigenous coastal forest...

- Birding – Located off the beaten track and on the north bank of the magnificent Swartvlei, the bird watching opportunities are never-ending. 

- Water Activities – Swartvlei is the largest and deepest lake in the Wilderness National Park. All kinds of boats such as kayaks, SUPs (stand-up paddle boards), rubber ducks, sailing boats, catamarans, motor boats and canoes are allowed on the water.

- Mountain Biking – Imagine a secret place off the beaten track where endless trails and district roads snake their way through ancient forests and abundant farmland...

- Fishing – The Swartvlei is well known for its incredible fishing. With the inflow of  fresh water from three rivers originating in the Outeniqua Mountains, and access to the sea through the river mouth at Sedgefield, the fish life is varied, active and abundant.
