Mooiplaas Country Guest House & Spa is a luxurious four-star guest house situated on our family-run working ostrich farm just south of Oudtshoorn, in the heart of the Klein Karoo.

Mooiplaas Country Guest House Accommodation
When you arrive at Mooiplaas we greet you with a welcome drink. Rooms are decorated and equipped to make you feel special. At night we light up the evening torches that give a warm glow to the evening atmosphere and we turn down your bed with a little surprise. These are just some of the little touches we do to make sure that your stay is memorable. We delight in spoiling our guests - no request is too much effort for us!
Luxury Double / Twin Suites
All luxury rooms have their own entrances. The suites are spacious and luxurious. Each has a lounge area, bedroom and huge modern bathroom. And from your suite’s patio or balcony, you can enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of the Swartberg Mountains and Oudtshoorn.
Luxury Suites with Kitchenette
We have expanded our accommodation at Mooiplaas by adding four luxury suites. We did this by completely converting a neighbouring farmhouse into four luxury modern rooms each with their own small kitchenette. The house overlooks its own private swimming pool which is set in the front garden. Beyond the pool, lie the farmlands and an uninterrupted panoramic view of the purple Swartberg Mountain range.
Family Suites
We are family people so we welcome and cater for the needs of families and our ‘younger guests’. We have 4 family suites, each sleeps 4 people. Three family suites have a king bed, full bathroom (bath and shower) and a lounge area. One family suite has a queen bed, shower bathroom and two single beds in the lounge area.
If the family consists of more than 2 children, we can connect another family suite through inter-leading doors to give extra accommodation and space. All family suites are on ground level with a separate entrance and have spectacular views of the gardens and Swartberg Mountains. You can even see the town of Oudtshoorn from the front porch. Baby sitting services are available at a nominal cost and we will gladly arrange early dining hours for children.
Superior / Honeymoon Suites
All superior rooms have their own entrances. The suites are spacious and luxurious. Each has a separate lounge area, bedroom and huge modern bathroom. And from your suite’s patio, you can enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of the Swartberg Mountains and Oudtshoorn.
Dining at Mooiplaas Country Guest House
Our dining room offers fine local cuisine and serves a full breakfast (included in the rate), picnic baskets, four course dinner menu, and a gentleman’s bar. Our four course dinners are remembered worldwide for their truly South African/Karoo flavour and for the warm hospitality with which they are served. We ask people to inform us before 13h00 on the day of arrival.
You can choose between having an ostrich fillet barbeque or a traditional warm cooked meal. The price is R255 pp excluding drinks. There is a set menu with 3 selections for each course.

Our new on-site spa facility is one of the best Oudtshoorn spa facilities, offering treatments and massages to suit every guest’s needs. Add some extra pampering to your holiday. Ostrich Farm
Don’t miss our guided tour of the Mooiplaas Ostrich Farm. The tour is about 1 – 1.5 hours. The tour will show you how a modern day working commercial farm operates. Our tour guide, Koos, starts by telling you the fascinating story of how Oudtshoorn owes its history to the ostrich. Indeed the ostrich feather started it all … and the rest (as they say)… is history!
Koos, will take you for a drive around the farm to show you the adult ostriches. You will get a chance to meet the curious and friendly, young ostriches in the farm paddocks. He then will show you how we breed the chicks. You will see how we use advanced farming methods to care for the eggs and provide the right environment for them to hatch into healthy young birds. Once hatched, our chicks then go into the nursery for their upbringing. As they grow, so they move into bigger paddocks along with all the other chicks they bonded with in the nursery.
