Garden Route Safari Lodges offer guests luxury and budget game and safari lodge experiences in a malaria-free game park region of South Africa.

Traditionally not such a big name in safari lodge accommodation, the Garden Route’s popularity with tourists has let to large tracts of farmland being reclaimed and allowed to return to its natural state.

However, the summer (November to February) can get very hot, and the winter months (June to August) can be very wet and cold.

  • Neutral shades to blend into your environment.
  • Sturdy footwear – especially if your safari lodge also offer walking safari’s.
  • Long Trousers – for the cold and the insects.

What to Pack for your Safari in South Africa:

  • Camera to capture the highlights of your South African safari holiday.
  • Sunblock – summers can be harsh in South Africa.
  • Binoculars – although the lodge will have a pair or two in your 4x4 safari vehicle.
  • Prescription Medication – Although medical evacuation is possible, you are hours away from any doctors or hospitals, so make sure to stock up.
  • Day Bag / Carry Bag for water, camera, jacket, etc.
